Determining Priority GLOs in Grades 6-8

    in MS PE Idea Tank

There is a lot of discussion around how to determine which GLOs to focus on.

In other subject areas, there are 3 questions that are asked to determine Priority or Power Standards/Benchmarks which become a focus and those are:

    1. Endurance - Does the GLO provide students with knowledge and skills beyond a single test date?

    2. Leverage - Does the GLO provide knowledge and skills that will be valuable in multiple disciplines or content areas?

    3. Readiness - Does the GLO provide knowledge and skills for success in the next grade or level of instruction?

If you answer "yes" to all 3 of those questions, then a Standard/Benchmark/GLO is considered to be "Priority" or "Power".

I have set up a spreadsheet to allow you to do that for grades 6-8 GLOs and it can be found here: https://bit.ly/3scHo2r. (Click "Use Template" in the upper right to try it out!)

To make it easy, you will notice that if you choose 3 "yes" responses for a GLO, the row will automatically be highlighted in green, as shown here:
